The article discusses the main aspects of the sustainable development of the territories of European countries. The impact of public policy is aimed at addressing issues such as resource efficiency, environmental indicators that have a direct impact on the economies of European countries, as well as contributing to the sustainable development of the territories of these countries. Sustainable development implies economic and social aspects, as well as special attention is paid to environmental aspects. The World Commission on Environment and Development (the Brundtland Commission), which presented the report in 1987, put forward the concept of "sustainable development". Since then, it has become a key component in many policy discussions on economic, social, and environmental issues. In its report "Our Common Future," the Brundtland Commission defined it as: "development that meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
