MANAGING INNOVATION ACTIVITIES IN MANUFACTURING COMPANIES BASED ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: A CONCEPTUAL MODEL

Abstract:
The relevance of this study stems from the active digital transformation of Russian industry and the need to clarify the management mechanisms through which digital technologies influence the innovation activities of manufacturing enterprises. The purpose of this article is to develop a conceptual model for managing the innovation activities of manufacturing enterprises based on digital transformation. The methodological basis of the study consists of an analysis and systematization of Russian and foreign scientific publications, a comparative analysis of approaches to digital maturity and innovation management, as well as a case study of practices at large Russian enterprises. The article summarizes approaches to the relationship between digitalization and innovation and proposes a classification of digital technologies according to management functions: planning and forecasting, coordination and integration, control and monitoring, organizational development, and interaction with the external environment. Based on this, a three-level model has been developed that links digital technologies, management mechanisms, and types of innovation. The model incorporates moderating factors specific to Russia: the digital maturity of enterprises, government industrial policy, and human resource constraints. The scientific novelty lies in shifting the focus from the technological classification of digital solutions to their managerial effects and the mediating role of management functions. The practical applicability of the model is illustrated using examples from Rosatom, Severstal, and KAMAZ. The results show that digital technologies influence innovation activity not directly, but through the transformation of management functions and organizational mechanisms. The proposed model can be used in developing roadmaps for digital transformation, selecting priority digital solutions, and planning measures to support the innovative development of manufacturing enterprises.
