Financing agricultural projects by international development banks: problems and prospects

Abstract:
This article presents the results of a study aimed at identifying the characteristics of international development banks as sources of financing for agricultural projects and formulation of the recommendations for enhancing this activity based on the analysis. The authors identified trends in agricultural projects’ financing by international development banks, including consideration of climate risks, focus on ESG principles, and support for projects related to digitalization and the use of modern agricultural technologies. Based on publications by the World Bank, FAO, AfDB, ADB, EBRD, EDB a SWOT analysis of agricultural projects’ financing by international development banks was conducted, identifying strengths and opportunities, as well as weaknesses and threats. The article offers recommendations for improving the effectiveness of agricultural projects’ financing by international development banks.
