The article examines the main causes of the personnel shortage at agricultural enterprises in modern conditions. The features of agriculture as a branch of the economy that determine the specifics of rural employment and the features of agricultural labor are revealed. The dynamics of the number of workers in the agricultural sector is presented, the reasons for the decrease in the number of employees are determined. The research data on the advantages and disadvantages of working in agricultural companies are presented. The role of agricultural education in solving the problem of personnel shortage is considered. Possible mechanisms for regulating employment in the agricultural sector and attracting young people to employment at agricultural enterprises are proposed.
