Abstract. Understanding adaptation as an active process means that an individual can use internalized economic values in certain socio-economic situations to realize his goals and aspirations. Such a view of social adaptation presupposes the determination of the conditionality of this phenomenon by the economic culture of the individual, the determination of the possibility of a person choosing a direction of activity based on internalized economic values. In the conditions of social transformation processes, characterized by a high level of unpredictability, when a person often faces new situations and circumstances, the role of adaptation processes in the human psyche increases significantly. Economic socialization, which very often takes the form of re-socialization for some segments of the population, is characterized by changes in value priorities, motivation and strategies of economic behavior. So, social adaptation and economic culture of the individual are integral parts of the process of economic socialization. This point of view corresponds to approaches to understanding the determination of the process of economic socialization, which, refusing to recognize the conditionality of human development by any one factor, note that each specific moment of it is determined by a unique combination of factors of various kinds. In particular, economic socialization looks like a holistic, dynamic, continuous process of acquiring economic knowledge, skills, and behaviors that a person needs for life in a certain economic environment.
