Поставленная Президентом РФ задача выхода российской науки на международную арену в современных условиях затруднена в исполнении в связи с рядом факторов, среди которых недостаток финансирования научных исследований и опытно-конструкторских разработок, отсталость технологического развития страны, а также сложность реализации коллаборационных исследований с российскими учеными. В статье в качестве одного из механизмов интеграции российской науки в мировое научное сообщество выделяются исследовательские фронты - тренд современных наукометрических исследований. Дается оценка возможности использования исследовательских фронтов, высказывается гипотеза об императивности их исследования для современной науки.
