The paper provides the class composition of the livestock, average measurements, physique indices and live weight of mares and stallions in breeding farms are given. A brief historical background of the area's breeding farms is presented, as well as the technology used for the winter keeping of adult horses. It has been established that, in quantitative terms, the area's food supply meets the requirements for the development of horse breeding. Selection and breeding work is carried out on farms. Thus, the analysis shows the prospects for the development of horse breeding in the Amga region of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
